Magnetic confinement fusion is an approach to generate thermonuclear fusion power that uses magnetic fields to confine the hot fusion fuel in the form of a plasma. Magnetic confinement is one of two major branches of fusion energy…research, the other being inertial confinement. The magnetic approach dates into the 1940s and has seen the majority of development since then. It is usually considered more promising for practical power production. Fusion reactions combine light atomic nuclei such as hydrogen to form heavier ones such as helium, producing energy. In order to overcome the electrostatic repulsion between the nuclei, they must have a temperature of several tens of millions of degrees, under which conditions they no longer form neutral atoms but exist in the plasma state. In addition, sufficient density and energy confinement are required, as specified by the Lawson criterion. Los Alamos National Laboratory (Los Alamos or LANL for short) is a United States Department of Energy national laboratory initially organized during World War II for the design of nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project. It is located a short distance northwest of Santa Fe, New Mexico in the southwestern US. Los Alamos was selected as the top secret location for bomb design in late 1942, and officially commissioned the next year, under the management of University of California. At the time it was known as Project Y and was the center for weapon design and overall coordination. Other labs, today known as Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Hanford Site, concentrated on the production of uranium and plutonium bomb fuels. Los Alamos was the heart of the project, collecting together some of the world's most famous scientists, among them numerous Nobel Prize winners. The site was known variously as Project Y, Los Alamos Laboratory, and Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory through this period.

Add to basketForty-six "skeneimorph" species from the South Azorean Seamount Chain (SASC) have been studied. These comprise taxa in the superfamilies Trochoidea (family Skeneidae) and Seguenzoidea (families Trochaclididae, Pendromidae, Eudaroniidae and several genera which are not assigned to a family). Seventeen new species are proposed, fi…fteen in Seguenzoidea and two in Trochoidea. Three species are transferred to different genera: Xyloskenea xenos Hoffmann, van Heugten & Lavaleye, 2010 is assigned to Trenchia, Trochus (Margarita) minima Seguenza, 1876 and Lissotesta scalaroides Rubio & Rolán, 2013 to Mikro. Twelve species (26%) are only known from the SASC and are probably endemic to this region. Twenty-one species are known from the SASC and/or the Azores seamounts and this set is probably endemic to this larger area. Five amphiatlantic species were found. New taxa: Trochaclis fortis n. sp., Trochaclis carinata n. sp., Trochaclis platoensis n. sp., Adeuomphalus axistriatus n. sp., Adeuomphalus curvistriatus n. sp., Eudaronia spirata n. sp., Eudaronia mikra n. sp., Anekes anderswareni n. sp., Anekes mikrosculpta n. sp., Anekes umbilisculpta n. sp., Anekes varisculpta n. sp., Moelleriopsis atlantis n. sp., Moelleriopsis gritta n. sp., Moelleriopsis meteorminora n. sp., Trenchia teriuga n. sp., Mikro perforata n. sp., Skenea basicarinata n. sp. 82 pp., 63 figs, 2 tabs, br. gr. 8.
