Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Emilie Toepperwein (illustrator). 1st Edition. The Deputy by Emilie Toepperwein and Fritz A. Toepperwein. First Edition, published in 1949 by The Highland Press in Boerne, Texas. This highly collectible signed first edition is made especially desirable by the presence of both authors signatures, making it a wonderful piece for collectors of regional Texas history, Western Americana, or works connected with the legendary Toepperwein family. The book is in exceptional, like-new condition, remarkably well preserved for its age. It retains its original dust jacket, which has been carefully protected in a clear archival mylar cover to help preserve its condition and appearance. The boards remain clean and crisp, the spine is strong, and the binding is tight, with all pages firmly attached. The interior pages are bright and clean, showing little to no evidence of handling. Overall, the book presents beautifully and has clearly been well cared for over the decades. Copies of this title are already uncommon, and signed examples by both Emilie Toepperwein and Fritz A. Toepperwein are especially scarce, making this a standout addition to any collection of Texas literature or notable signed books from the mid-20th century. A remarkably preserved collectible copy from the historic town of Boerne, Texas an excellent opportunity for collectors seeking a signed first edition with strong provenance and presentation.
