Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. In this 1882 issue of "Harper's New Monthly Magazine" is a fascinating article about "Quaint Old Yarmouth", an ancient port and fishing town of Massachusetts. The engravings that accompany the essay are beautiful. Also included are articles on Torpedos and Torpedo Boats; woodland flowers ("In th…e Pines", again with lovely illustrations); an article about Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, with a handsome portrait; a historical piece on ancient pueblos and the native Americans who built and lived in them; "The Social Athens of America" focuses on some of the leading families in the upper crust of genteel America. There is much more, including serialized fiction, poetry, and literary discussions. A very interesting smattering of advertising includes a stunning promotional advertisement for amateur photography and supplies.
