Fuller was an esteemed English writer, whose works comprise poetry (the Movement), memoirs, and fiction; in fiction he is known for his crime novels. Fuller has received awards for his poetry, including "The Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry, and the Cholmondeley Award from the Society of Authors. For a few years he was Professor of Poetry at Oxford University. Fuller might be considered a poet's poet.
