Softcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Pictorial soft cover. 8"x5" oblong. 177 pages, + Index. Beautifully illustrated throughout by Mike Nelson of German locations. Originally published in Germany, here the Editors have shown all of the recipe titles in both English and German. For the most part, this collection of recipes seem like simple rustic family meals intended to serve 6-8 people. Included with each is a menu with tradional sides and often beer. There are exceptions such as the various Schnitzel recipes which suggest wine and guests, but retain clear, straightforward instruction. Table of Contents (in English) Beef; Pork; Various Meats; Fish & Fowl; Soups; Vegetables & Knodel; Salads; Sauces & Herb Butters; From the Oven; Family Dishes; Index. Here are just a few recipes to drool over: Schweinebraten (Roast Pork). Sauerfleisch. Of Sauerfleisch the author writes "Sauerfleisch is highly spiced dish peculiar to the Allgau. I have never seen it anywhere else. You will either love it or hate it, no one ever feels neutral." Wachteln (Quail) to be served with Fladlesuppe (Pancake Soup). Condition is Very Good, or better. The book is clean and solid however the edges have toned with age and there is sticker residue and some discoloration on the back cover. Remains a giftable book. ; 8vo.
