In my years of ministering to people, many have come to me to seek out truths about divorce and remarriage. They were afraid that if they did get remarried, they would be living in sin. We will be examining this very controversial subject that causes a lot of questions for many concerned individuals. My intention is to always rightly divide the Word of God but sometimes it is incredibly challenging. I am going to encourage you to go through the Scriptures with me as we dissect the truth about this subject. If there is something that you do not feel is Biblically correct, continue to seek out the truth though the Word of God. You do not have to agree with me, but with the Word of God. Many of mankind's attempts to find happiness in this broken world seem to end up in disaster. The more we attempt to find it, the unhappier we become. In this dark world, it often seems that we receive no real instructions on how to live in it. The harder we try, the more broken and addicted to the world's ways we become. When we are without God, we truly have no place to look. In John 10:10 Jesus gave us a clue. He said, "The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."We are living in what the Bible calls the Last Days. This age is a time of darkness filled with mankind lost in a mire of ignorance. Many of us have gone through life with little or no understanding of the reality of Father God, nor the importance of the Word of God. We have all strayed down our own roads of despair and unhappiness and have tried to find happiness in the ways of a lost world. When we don't know the ways of God, we live life based upon our own worldly desires and ideas. As a result, we have no concept of the real purpose of marriage, nor of our hearts being single-minded to the goal that God truly desires for us. We have wandered into the ways of a fallen world, living basically by the lust of the flesh. No longer is marriage established upon our relationship with the Lord and the agape love that He has given us. We go through life living our own selfish lives, which are based on lust and the selfishness of the flesh. Today, we are living in a self-centered generation whose emotions are running wild. Many men and women have rejected their roles in marriage. They have divorced, and some have chosen to live single lives, bouncing from one unfulfilled relationship to another. It would never be my intent to advocate divorce in most cases, but as you go through this book, I hope to establish some boundaries that you can understand if you have gone through divorce. Most divorces come through the selfish action of one mate. In almost all cases, divorce is a very damaging event in the lives of all those who are involved. Not only does it affect their mate but also their children, their in-laws and many friends and acquaintances. In many cases, their lives are broken all because of one person's selfish actions. The problem with this is that both mates are often found guilty by the unjust standards of the church.I am convinced by the Word of God that they can repent and be forgiven and begin their lives anew based upon the unchangeable grace of God.
