Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. (lacking the original dust jacket, but encased in a nice-looking facsimile reproduction of same; see 2nd image posted with this listing) [a nice clean book with minimal wear, minor spotting on the covers, embossed ownership stamp of MGM writer/producer Carey Wilson on both endpaper…s]. The third full-length novel starring Bertie Wooster and his irreplaceable and imperturbable valet Jeeves. The action takes place at a country house called Totleigh Towers, and introduces the character of Roderick Spode, a parody of British Fascist leader Oswald Mosley, who will go on to appear in three subsequent Wodehouse novels. One of the most highly-regarded of the Bertie-and-Jeeves books, it's been adapted for radio, TV, and the stage (the latter as a play entitled "Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense," which had a decent West End run in the 2013/2014 season and won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy). NOTE again that this book bears a FACSIMILE dust jacket, to serve the dual purpose of protecting the book from further wear and enhancing its appearance on the shelf; its presence has not been factored in to our pricing. Illustrated by (dj) Roese (illustrator).
