Amit Ambalal brings forth a strange and lush environment where confusion reigns, the improbable happens and humour abounds; where fecundity, fey and fauve sway the senses.' Artist biography is provided in the catalogue. Includes 13 color reproductions of Ambalal's works. Amit Ambalal, born in 1943 in Ahmedabad, India, is a self-taught contemporary artist known for his vibrant and humorous works that blend traditional Indian themes with modernist influences. After initially running a family business, he dedicated himself to art in the late 1970s. His playful and satirical depictions of everyday life, mythology, and animals are informed by folk art traditions. In addition to his painting, Ambalal is a scholar of Indian miniature painting, particularly the Nathdwara tradition, and has written extensively on the subject. His works are held in prestigious collections worldwide.
