The noted educator and literary editor of "Christian Century" for more than 30 years was also a prolific religious writer whose books include "The March of Faith," "The Disciples of Christ" and others. Exceptionally early and almost miniature ALS, 2pp, 3½" X 4 3/4", New Haven, CT, 1894 December 18. Addressed to Rose. Near fine. Light age toning. Presumably a college undergrad at the time (he indicates "Yale University"), the youthful Garrison sends effusive birthday greetings to a friend in his miniscule script. Reads in part: "This little volume is some of the best vacation reading I know of. It would be excellent to use as we used 'Harvard Stories' and 'Dream Life' last Easter, and I intend to introduce it for such use this Christmas.".
