Text block edge is moderately foxed. Previous owner's inscription to front free end-paper and title page. Minor dog-eared corners appear occasionally. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Boards are bowed. Clipped jacket has moderate edge-wear with chips, tears and creasing.…

Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First Edition. Second printing from 1947 of a book originally published by Harrap in 1943. The spine has three pin prick holes also affecting the jacket and there is bumping to the top corners but the boards are otherwise unmarked. Browning to the page edges with some spotting to the top edges. The pages are a little browned but are otherwise unmarked. The heavily price-clipped jacket has a one and a half inch piece missing from the top left corner of the rear panel. The front panel has a two inch closed tear to the bottom edge. Crease down the edge of the front flap. Chipping to the corners with some loss at the top of the spine. The book has a colour frontispiece by the same uncredited artist who did the illustration for the jacket. …
