Autograph letter, signed, in pencil, with an early sketched rendition of his most famous creation, "The Cat in the Hat," predating the publication of the book (1957). The letter is written on the verso of the scallop-edged placemat of "The Student Prince [Restaurant] and is addressed to his high school classmates, regretting that he had shown up for a reunion one day early and was unable to "tarry and see them."
