Dieses Ex. nicht im Handeinband der Bibliophila AG, Bern, sondern in losen Bogen. Gemäss dem Aufsatz von Adienne Alena Karsten (Abseits der großen Bücherstraßen Die BÄREN PRESSE BERN (Robert Wampfler). Mainz, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Institut für Buchwissenschaft, 2006, S. 3) wurden nur die ersten fünf Ex. ungebunden ausgeliefert. David Gempeler, von 1828 bis 1916 im Simmental lebend, schrieb im Jahre 1883 seine erste kleine Sammlung Simmentaler Sagen und Sagengeschichten. Nachdem das Bändchen großen Zuspruch von der Bevölkerung fand und in mehreren Auflagen erschienen ist, war es Ende des 20.Jahrhunderts kaum mehr zu beschaffen. Dies veranlasste Robert Wampfler, gleichfalls aus dem Simmental stammend, die Sieben Sagen neu aufzulegen. Eine der Sagen, vom Rüeggisberg, erschien sogar unverändert im Simmentaler Dialekt und durch die Schreibweise Gempelers kann sich jeder Leser die Sprache von damals vergegenwärtigen. Dieser Dialekt wird kaum noch in dieser Art angetroffen, und Wampfler konserviert mit seinem Druck ein Stück Simmentaler Sprach- und Heimatgeschichte. In besonderem Einklang stehen die liebevollen Originalradierungen von Andreas Schärer mit dem Schriftbild in der 10 Punkt Zentenar-Fraktur. So unterstützen Textbild und Illustration den Inhalt auf gelungene Weise. - Tadellos erhalten.
