Octavo; bound in contemporary tree calf with gilt stamping to spine; edges stained yellow; 383pp., collated and complete. Minor wear and scuffing; front board slightly bowed; binding sound; preliminary blanks nearly detached; contemporary ownership inscriptions (1829 and 1846) to preliminaries and title; light spotting to interior; Very Good and sound. History of "El Libertador" and his military campaigns by Prussian officer Decoudray Holstein, who served under Bolivar as a colonel and was a witness to the revolutionary years of 1814-1816 in South America. Decoudray Holstein later worked as a bookseller, attempted to liberate Puerto Rico, and became a professor of Modern Languages at the college in Geneva, New York. Uncommon in retail. Sabin 32644.
