He wrote extensively about these matters, about food sustainability, production, preservation, storage in adverse conditions, and distribution to the armed forces, but dealt extensively also with civil production and consumption. He educated and set regulations for the performance of slaughterhouses and of methods of slaughter of domestic animals for food production for the army. He also was an authority on all matters of breeding horses for military use.
