Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Issued without dust jacket. 1st Edition. *** IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE THE UK YOU MUST CHOOSE PRIORITY MAIL OR YOUR ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED. THIS IS TO ALLOW AIR MAIL WIH TRACKING AND INSURANCE. *** This is a two volume UK first edition hardcover set published by Charles Gilpin i…n 1850 and translated into English by Otto Wecnkstern. The books are more or less in identical condition so the description I give applies to both. The books have overall straight spines, lightly bumped corners and softened spine ends. The spines are sunned and the boards faded - see photos. The books are tightly bound with toned page edges and foxing to the opening half dozen end papers / prelims. The text block itself, however, is clean. The title page confirms the year of publication as 1850 for each book. Volume I has the advertising leaf still attached to the opening end paper, promoting Volume II. There is an owner book plate for neatly glued to an opening end paper. There was likely a tissue strip present to cover the frontispiece but this is missing if so. The book has a fold out map at the back and has 231 pages, excluding adverts. Volume II bears the same owner bookplate in the same location and has the tissue protector present for the frontispiece. The book has 334 pages, excluding adverts.
