This offering is a vintage copy of A Horse to Remember written by Genevieve Torrey Eames and illustrated by Paul Brown. The book was published by Julian Messner, Inc. in 1947 and appears to be a First Edition but is not specifically stated as such. The pr…ice on the dust jacket flap is $2.50. The book is NOT an ex-library copy and while the book is in very good + condition the dust jacket is in good + condition . . . because it has a triangular piece missing st the top of the spine (base of 3/4" height of 1 1/4") and a trapezoidal missing on the bottom of the back dust jacket (base 1 1/4" height 5/8"). It is 6 1/4" by 8 1/2" and has 146 pages with a Table of Contents and, of course, great black-and-white illustration scattered throughout the book. "How Jarvis learns to ride and wins the right to keep Joker - how they both solve the mystery of the haunted house - how Jarvis enters his pet in the horse show and what happens to both horse and master is a thoroughly absorbing and exciting story for boys and girls." Thank you. Paul Brown (illustrator).

Spine ends bumped, tips still sharp but brushed showing light color loss. Not ex-library. Former owner's name on illustrated endpaper both written and lightly rubber st…amped, along with two lines of cello tape, one covering a 1" x 1/2" paper pull. 164pp text is fine, crisp and clean, no weird smells, hinge papers fine. Original, un-clipped dust wrapper with repaired chips and color loss along spine edges and front flap fold also has a line of tape residue vertically down the front flap. Green background dust jacket has an attractive collie head portrait next to a drawing of a 'Sandy Ferguson' holding a lamb. Paul Brown art throughout, 25 line drawings, many of them two page spreads. Sandy Ferguson just knew that Handy was the smartest dog in the County but his Dad thought a pedigreed collie was "as out of place on a ranch as a pair of spurs at a church supper." But when Handy saved the life of his baby sister, Susie, Dad agreed the dog could stay and that he'd make a good pet even if he couldn't earn his keep. Handy is stolen by a sheepherder during a camping trip that Sandy and his buddy Frank Allen were planning and instead of the camping trip, the two boys set out to track the thieving herder and retrieve Sandy's beloved dog.
