Blaur Leinen Hardcover, mit SU - sauberes frisches Exemplar. 315 S. isbn 3522600606 - Die hier angeführte Ausgabe ist wegen der ausführlichen und fundierten Einführung durch den Herausgeber Wolf-Dieter Grün und der 'Dokumente zur Vorgeschichte der Mission Bogles' zu empfehlen. Aus einer Rezension von Jan Andersson: "Das Buch ist eine Zusammenstellung aus Bogles Tagebüchern und Berichten und gibt seine persönlichen Eindrücke wieder. Sein Abschiedsgruß an die Tibeter klingt fast poetisch: 'Lebe wohl, du ehrliches und einfaches Volk. Mögest du lange das Glück genieben, das zivilisierten Nationen verweigert ist, und, während sie in ruheloser Jagd begriffen sind, die Geiz und Ehrgeiz ihnen auferlegen, fortfahren, durch deine kahlen Berge geschützt, in Frieden und Zufriedenheit zu leben und keine anderen Bedürfnisse als die der Natur zu kennen'".-- Bogle erfüllte seinen Auftrag bestens, doch für die Beteiligten änderte sich wenig, denn die Interessen der 'Ostindischen Companie' verlagerten sich auf andere Gebiete, und wenige Jahre später starb der Panchen Lama.
