This collection of essays was printed for private circulation to commemorate the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Only 500 copies were printed, on Goatskin Parchment paper. Mill Hill started as a London Grammar School in 1808, and became a Public School in 1895. There are 7 essays about the school, and 3 about old boys, including Henry Shaw, the father of St. Louis. There are 30 b/w photos, and the book has 4 pages of rubricated calligraphy at the front and 4 colour pages of heraldry at the back. The book is covered on orange cloth with gilt lettering on the spine and front. It is signed on the free end paper by the author with a dedication to Theodore H. Robinson, who was at the school at the turn of the century, and subsequently became Professor of Semitic Languages at University College, Cardiff, and was the author of many books and articles. THE BOOK IS OFFERED WITH A LETTER, on Mill Hill headed note paper, dated 15/2/98. It is to "My dear little Mother" and starts "Father has been writing to me to say that you are not well". Near the end is the sentence "I was kicking a football around the other day when this happened, but I soon brushed off the mud", followed by sketches of a boy kicking a football and then on his back in the mud. It is signed off "Your loving son, T. H. Robinson". Condition - The white dust jacket shows finger marks on the front. It is worn at the corners and ends of the spine, and has 2 small tears.
