(See related paragraph below) RELATED INFORMATION Our Story: Martha & Pinkas Isaak is a 'companion' book to Missing Pieces: A Family Story Retold (M. David Isaak & Beth Gerson, in press). Missing Pieces relates the story of Weinreb-Isaak family members who were living in Germany when Hitler came to power. Little known details related to the fate of those who perished were recently learned when a cache of letters written by family members from 1934 through 1943 was discovered and translated. Pinkas Isaak's story is summarized (in part) in Missing Pieces. When he and other family members were arrested on October 28, 1938, during the Polenaktion (the expulsion of Jewish residents holding Polish passports), he escaped deportation because his passport was not immediately available. He and Martha lived to tell their story in the current publication (Our Story: Martha & Pinkas Isaak)'.
