Hardcover. Condition: Good. Illustrated Edition. (©1884) 1st edition. Thick Folio (10 x 13 in.). Original covers of half red leather and marbled boards, marbled end-papers. Text and Index in 276 pages followed by 84 full-page monochromatic plates of fetuses in womb and being delivered, facing pages have corresponding text. 133 textual wood-cuts representing fetal development and the birth process. Condition: the spine cover is missing, both covers are worn and entirely detached (as usual). The book block is still tightly bound, the text is clean and un-marked, and the Plates are excellent, some printed in sepia tone. A classic volume of medical Illustrations valuable for it's fine images. Quick, well-protected shipping, USA only.
