From here he made his tour of the north-west of Scotland described in his well-known Observations on a Tour (1800); he later became the first professor of natural philosophy and chemistry at the Royal Institution where he was a famed lecture demonstrator. He did not live to see this , the second of the three annual volumes published under this title. Clean, tight in original blue grey boards with spine label (torn with loss).
