Seller: Ian Brabner, Rare Americana (ABAA), Wilmington, DE, U.S.A.
Ballston Spa, New York: Journal Printing House, [ca. 1890s]. 8-sided fold out brochure, printed on salmon colored paper. Folded: 5 x 3 inches. Open: 11? x 5 inches. Fine condition. Rare ca. 1890s promotional brochure for the Geyser Spring, issued by the Geyser Spring Company to showcase its popular bottled "new style sparkling water," illustrated on one panel. The text declares that the water could be enjoyed by the glass or bottle, at any desired temperature, from their office at Broadway and Congress Street. It includes a detailed chemical analysis by Prof. C. F. Chandler of Columbia College School of Mines, comparing the spring's composition to other Saratoga waters. Elsewhere, testimonials and recommended medical uses add persuasive detail. In remarkable condition for ephemeral advertising. The front panel features a finely engraved trademark: a large, ornamented "G" for "Geyser," shown as a spouting fountain with engraved water to suggest the spring's effervescence.
