A scarce work from the library of the Birmingham Medical Institute; measures approx 25 x 17.5 x 2 cm; bound in the original blue cloth with gilt title to spine and front board; boards a little rubbed with some wear to edges and corners; spine darkened, with some wear and crmpling at head and tail, BMI gilt stamp and small white hand-written numerals; plain endpapers with a little browning to free eps, small BMI library stamp to bottom corner of both pastedowns; half-title present; a little foxing to last couple of leaves; otherwise pages lightly toned but generally clean; plates in good order, with opposing page of descriptive text; binding loosened slightly, otherwise a good sound volume overall. Blue Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. 172pp. 1916. First edition. 4to. A very good, clean, tight copy in original publisher's blue cloth boards. 'With seventy-two text illustrations, one black and one coloured plate.' (both as called for). Scarce. 'With the author's compliments' addressed slip (6, Devonshire Street, Portland Place) lossely inserted and dated 21st Dec., 1915. A former owner's ink name and date to the head of the front endpaper. A notable bump to the head of the spine and a bump to the tail of the spine. The gilt to the spine somewhat dulled. A very good, clean, tight copy of this scarce book.
