With the text in Spanish, this is a biography of Florencio Varela (1808-1848), an Argentine writer, poet, journalist and educator. In 1845 he founded the newspaper "Comercio del Plata" in Montevid…eo, and became one of the fiercest critics of Governor Rosas. On 20 March 1848 he was assassinated by Andrés Cabrera, who was acting under the orders of Manuel Oribe and Rosas. The book is bound in the original card covers with blue titling on the spine and front cover. The book is in very good condition with some shelf wear and light soiling on the covers. There is a small bit of damage to the top rear spine corner. The contents are tight and clean with some age-browning on the margins of the pages. There is no inscription. PLEASE NOTE: This is a fairly heavy book and extra postage may apply for delivery outside the UK.
