Erste Ausgabe, selten. - "Der Deutsch-Amerikaner mit seinem markanten Nussknacker-Profil, den langen Haaren, italienischen Maßanzügen, breitkrempigen Chicagoer Gangsterhüten und rotem Porsche war die erste überzeugende Verkörperung des Stararchitekten, der auch von einem größeren Publikum wie ein Filmidol wiedererkannt wurde. Der 1940 geborene Lehrerssohn aus dem fränkischen Zirndorf war nach seinem Architekturdiplom an der TU München 1966 zum Masterstudium an das Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago gegangen. Seine erste Anstellung fand er in der Architekturfabrik C.F. Murphy, wo er vom Zeichner zum Leiter bis zum Inhaber aufstieg und entscheidend daran mitwirkte, die Architektur des Corporate America zu erneuern. Dabei eiferte Jahn seinem Vorbild Mies van der Rohe ebenso nach, wie er sich von ihm absetzte. Während Mies nach seiner Emigration 1938 als Leiter der Architekturabteilung des IIT gegen den ausgelaugten Art déco-Stil kämpfte, so wollte Jahn mit seinem High-Tech-Expressionismus die Diktatur der Kistenarchitektur aus der Mies-Schule überwinden. So ist es der Nachkriegsgeneration von Architekten wie Helmut Jahn zu verdanken, dass Unternehmen ihre Leistungsfähigkeit nicht mehr hinter anonymen Fassaden verstecken, sondern ihr Prestige auch in ihren Gebäuden ausdrücken" (Bauwelt 12/2021). - Sehr gutes Exemplar.
