Oblong 8vo. First edition. A curious book with an engraved title leaf and thirty plates, each with an accompanying page of text. The plates reveal the foretelling of Christ in th Old Testament, while the text reprints poems and appropriate quotations regarding the specific fortelling. These include Aaron in the Holy of Holies Joseph in Prison, Moses on the Mount, etc. The plates include borders and initial letters redrawn by A.E. Gimingham from illuminated Bibles in the Brit Museum. Covers slightly shaken; rust marks on leaves from staples near the spine.
