Elegante legatura coeva in mezza con nome dell'autore, silloge del titolo e fregi incisi in oro al dorso. Ottimo esemplare. Prima e unica edizione di questa preziosa monografia; la prima sezione è relativa al taglio delle pietrre e alla costruzione di muri, la seconda alla costruzione di piattabande e volte (cilindriche, coniche, a vela, nicchie, gobbe ecc.). L'appendice dell'opera è dedicata ai sistemi di apparecchio dei ponti per isbieco (con una nota sulla rivoluzione analitica dei problemi di Stereotomia). A partire da pag. 305, nella parte seconda dell'opera, l'autore tratta delle centine delle volte. Giovanni Codazza (1816-1877) è anche ricordato per aver dato alle stampe, nel 1840, il primo trattato organico di fisica matematica apparso in Italia, "Sulla teoria della propagazione della luce omogenea nei mezzi omogenei".
