Protected now in a Mylar sleeve. 184 pages with color and black and white photos. German language mountain climbing book. Autobiography of Paul Etter (1939-1985), a pioneering Swiss mountain climber and guide, who accomplished the first winter ascent of the Matterhorn's north face in 1962 with Hilti von Allmen. The next year, with two other climbers, he recovered the bodies of two Spanish climbers during the first winter descent of the Eiger North Face. He died in 1985 in an avalanche while mountain guiding a ski tour.
