C'est, suivant l'opinion de MM. Paulin, Paris et P. Meyer, un fragment de la chanson de geste de Girbert de Metz, qui fait suite à celle de Garin-le-Lohérain. Le poëte y raconte les luttes que la mort de Garin fit naître entre la geste des Lorrains et celle de Bordelais. Francese.
