È l'esperienza teatrale di un gruppo di persone, costituitosi nel 1988, senza pretese, ma con la ferma volontà di dimostrare, seppure a tarda età, di avere ancora qualcosa da dare, recitando fatti di vita vissuta, ricchi, quindi, anche di esperienze personali. Nel nostro caso, a calcare i palcoscenici di teatri rinomati, o di teatrini parrocchiali, o nei piazzali di associazioni culturali, o in altri spazi comunque disponibili, sono sempre state persone, in là con gli anni, che sul far della sera hanno voluto sfidare la loro età per provare l'emozione di tenere alzato il sipario del giorno oltre il tramonto, ed essere parte attiva sulla scena del teatro-vita che Silvio d'Amico definì "la comunione d'un pubblico con uno spettacolo vivente". Da recita a recita era scontato il prevedibile ricambio dei partecipanti, che c'è stato, continuamente, fino a rigenerarsi in gruppi nuovi con un numero di partecipanti via via più ridotto: da "La Lunga Gioventù", alla Compagnia del Teatro Bargagli di Casole d'Elsa, al Gruppo Teatrale di San Miniato, al Piccolo Teatro; sempre, però, con impegno su tematiche socio-culturali, seguendo il filone narrativo dello stesso autore nell'arco di tempo che ha già superato trenta anni di attività. In questo volume sono inseriti i testi di due commedie già messe in scena, e di due non ancora rappresentate. Queste ultime sono: "Sei Paesaggi in cerca di autore" e "Il silenzio di Carlo". Della prima, il critico letterario, e poeta, Giorgio Bàrberi Squarotti ha scritto: "Ho letto i tuoi Paesaggi (con il pittore) che hai fatto arrivare dai colori alla vita da geniale autore quale sei di immagini e di parola. Ammiro e plaudo. È la tua opera letteraria di più straordinaria originalità"; della seconda, sono state iniziate le prove di recitazione per metterla in scena prossimamente.
