About 1900 the town of Lillehammer, Norway somewhat reluctantly paid Kr. 79,000 for a collection of STUFF acquired by a local citizen, Anders Sandvig. It has since grown into the tourist attraction known as Maihaugen (May Hill) and currently comprises 41 buildings over a 15 acre site. It is a farm/small village (outdoor) museum with buildings rep. the period 1563 to 1827. Illus. with B/W photos and one fold-out map at back. 91 pages. Cond : Cream coloured paper wrapper with a cover photo view of Lower Bjornstad from the Vaga district. Corners are sharp for the age, edges chipped. MINOR soiling. No names, marks, tears, creases, nor folds. Spine is fine, binding tight, colours bright. Coffee stain to part of leading page edge. Attractive museum guidebook. Quote (p. 80) : " . the grazing ground became manured. Many farmers also made a habit of keeping their flocks and herds inside movable fences, known locally as `grinder', from which term people in Vaga . ." Size: 12mo.
