Internally foxing to rear of ffep and just a trace to the title page. Inscribed on the dedication page thus: '(indecipherable name) with the best regards of the editor Joseph Allen Mar 12 1855'. In 1800, he enrolled at the St Petersburg Naval College. Three years later, he was sent to England and sailed for five years on ships of the British fleet, where he probably met the author.
