Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Fair. 1st Edition. 8vo. First edition. Soldiers and uniforms from 21st Bengal Native Infantry (1819) to 15th Lancers (1937). With double-page map of India before partition, in-text colour illustrations, 41 full-page colour illustrations with descriptions opposite, glossary, sources, and index; pictorial endpapers. Brown cloth, backstrip titled in gilt. Single minor bump at upper edge of front cover. Signs of light-ish compression in form two pairs of closely-spaced parallel indentations from front hinge into front cover, one pair of lengths up to 3cm, the other of lengths up to 2cm; nothing too disfiguring. Contents clean and tight. VERY GOOD copy in FAIR unclipped dust jacket here & there edge-rubbed & - nicked, and with three short tears of lengths up to 1.5cm.
