A novel about a former seaman destroyed by an alcohol addiction who ends up squatting in the swamps along the Pennsylvania shore of the Delaware River and the story he tells about the woman of the swamps who brings light into his life and how that happiness was cruelly destroyed. Gohm was a surgical technician with the United States Army and was with the Fighting 69th Division when the historic meeting with the Russians took place on the Elbe River, Germany marking a step toward the end of World War II in Europe.
