Roughly one-third of the backstrip is missing, with associated tears to the covers. There is soiling and dampstaining to the covers. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Book.

Approximately 9 x 12 inches, oblong; [80] pp. Chipped at head and foot of spine, with loss of about 2 inches of paper at the foot, and old tape repairs visible; general shelfwear, binding tender. Gift inscriptions on inside and title page, otherwise clean. Text in Dutch. Black and white plates show a many aspects of Balinese religious ceremonies, including costume, temples and other sacred architecture, ceremonial objects, and ceremonies and rituals being performed.

Paperback. Condition: Good. French language. Lanscape orientation paperback in good condition. Covers are marked and scuffed, with surface tears and surface colour loss noted. Edges, corners and spine ends are bumped and rubbed. Page block is tanned, foxed and blemished. Age related tanning and marks within, however pages are otherwise clear, and binding is sound. LW. Arrivé à Bandung dès 1923, Walter Spies (1895-1942) s'est établi à Bali en 1927, dans le village d'Iseh, face au mont Agung. Peintre et musicen, son style influencé par Henri Rousseau et les expressionnistes allemands contribua à diffuser en Occident une image idyllique de l'Île des Dieux.
