Includes black and white photos and illustrations. Roberta Hill and Brian Swann served as guest editors for this issue. This issue of Shantih from 1979 features the work of numerous highly regarded Native American authors. It includes the early work of controversial activist and former professor at the University of Colorado, Ward Churchill. He provided illustrations for the cover and rear wrapper, poetry, and profiles of comic Charlie Hill and musician Floyd Westerman. The issue also contains essays, translations, poetry, and fiction by contributors such as Leslie Marmon Silko, Duane Niatum, Simon J. Ortiz, Mary Tallmountain, and Paula Gunn Allen.
