circa 11,5 x 19 cm. 1 Blatt oben alt aus Papier aufgezogen Blick über den ganzen Ort, rechts die Pfarrkirche, auf dem Blatt eigenhändig bezeichnet, aber nicht signiert. Auf dem Unterlageblatt alt zugeschrieben. Gustav Graef stammte aus Königsberg, wirkte als Portraitist, malte aber auch Landschaften auf seinen Reisen. - Ganz gering stockig, Unterlage gebräunt.

Gustav Graef schuf anfangs monumentale Malereien und wandte sich nach 1862 "vorzugsweise dem Portrait [zu], namentlich dem weiblichen, das den Schwerpunkt seines künstlerischen Schaffens bildet. Hierin stieg sein Ansehen von Jahr zu Jahr, bis die Aufträge dergestalt zunahmen, daß die Ausführung darunter litt" (H. A. Müller: Biographisches Künstler-Lexikon. Leipzig, Vlg. des Bibliogr. Inst., 1882, S. 216). Von 1868 bis 1870 führte Graef u. a. drei große historische Kompositionen in der Aula der Universität zu Königsberg aus "und andre sehr reizende allegorische Darstellungen im v. Tiele-Wincklerschen Haus in Berlin. 1879 hatte er auf der Berliner Ausstellung ein treffliches Venusbild. Er ist Professor und Mitglied der Akademie in Berlin" (ebd.).
