Moskau 10.X.1848. 4°. 3 Seiten. Friedrich (Fedor Fedorowitsch) Graff (wohl 1803-1852) war ein deutsch baltischer Arzt im Dienst des Russischen Kaiserreichs, der vor allem in Moskau wirkte. Graff entstammte der deutschsprachigen Bevölkerung des Baltikums. Er studierte Medizin an der Kaiserlichen Universität Dorpat (Tartu) und wurde dort 1823 mit der Dissertation "De iis, quae in diagnosi phthiseos ex sputorum inspectione hucusque hausta sunt" promoviert, die sich mit der Auswertung des Sputums zur Diagnose der Phthise (Schwindsucht) befasst. Als Arzt am Kaiserlichen Katharinen Institut (Institut Impérial Sainte Cathérine) in Moskau, einer höheren Bildungsanstalt für adelige Mädchen schreibt er an Jean Marie Gaston Blache (1799-1871), dem er die Weiterbehandlung einer französischen Patientin (Mlle Lequoy, wahrscheinlich Tochter oder nahe Verwandte der berühmten Moskauer Modistin Madame Lequoy) empfiehlt, für deren Genesung das russische Klima ungeeignet sei. Er bezieht sich dabei auf Konzepte wie "constitution lymphatique" und diagnostiziert eine Dispostition zu "humeurs froides skrofuleux". Als Anstaltsarzt des Katharinen Instituts war er an der medizinischen Versorgung eines sozial und politisch wichtigen Elite-Internats beteiligt; die von ihm verfassten Gutachten dokumentieren sowohl den Transfer westeuropäischer Therapieansätze (Jod, Sarsaparille, Seebäder) nach Russland als auch seine Einbindung in einen internationalen medizinischen Austausch mit Kollegen in Westeuropa. Insgesamt lässt sich Graff heute als typischer Vertreter der gebildeten deutsch-baltischen Medizin im Zarenreich beschreiben, der zwischen Dorpat, der Petersburger Verwaltung und dem Moskauer Bildungswesen stand und zur allmählichen Modernisierung der dortigen medizinischen Praxis beitrug. L'hiver dernier, la première fois que j'eus l'occasion de voir Mlle Lequoy comme médecin, je la trouvai atteinte d'une enflure de jambe, qu'on avait prise pour un commencement d'érisypèle mais que je jugeai n'être que la suite de l'état général de sa constitution lymphatique. Aussi ajournai-je son traitement jusqu'à la belle saison et ne lui donnai que quelques palliatifs. Au printems nous eûmes la récidive du Cholera asiatique qui nous donna assez de fil à retordre presque jusqu'au mois d'Août ce qui fut cause qu'en général nous n'avions ni le tems ni le désir d'entreprendre les cures prolongées que nous employons généralement au printems et en été. Cependant Mlle Lequoy ayant demandé mes conseils pour l'usage des remèdes que Vous aviez ordonnés avec tant de succès à sa tante,(l'Iod, et la Sarsaparille), je les trouvai tellement conformes à son état maladif, que je donnai mon adhésion avec le plus grand plaisir,d'autant plus que je pris connaissance de de l'état plastique de son sang, se manifestant pendant les règles.
