Paper. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. An Original Typed and Signed Letter by Candain Writer Grant Allen. Dated 1897. A rather amusing letter to someone asking for his autograph. Charles Grant Blairfindie Allen 1848 - 1899 was a Canadian science writer and novelist, educated in England. He was a public promoter of evolution in the second half of the nineteenth century. Allen also became a pioneer in science fiction, with the novel The British Barbarians (1895) This book, published about the same time as H. G. Wells's The Time Machine which includes a mention of Allen, also described time travel, although the plot is quite different. He was a friend of Arthur Conan Doyle who finished one of his novels off. Wells's The Time Machine which includes a mention of Aliens and also described time travel. From a autograph book kept by A. P. Watt (1834-1914), founder of A. P.
