Soft cover. Condition: Fair. This is a pamphlet, produced for "gratuitous circulation," that explains the concepts of self-publishing and lists of amateur authors and printers. Finlay Grant (1862-1897) printed his first newspaper, The Young Bluenose, with a friend at age 16. In 1880, he joined the National Amateur Press Association and later became its editor and president. He met a Michigan poet, Bertha York, through the organization and they were married in 1885 at the annual convention, after which they moved to Fargo, where he became editor of the North Dakota Independent and founded the North Dakotan. Finlay died at age 34 of typhoid fever. Scarce; two institutional copies in Worldcat.
