Light wear at spine ends and corners. Two very small white spots on front.One small spoy on spine and three smal (white) spoys on rear. Gold tint on all three edges. Owner name in ink, with bought date 1891 on fly. There are some small fox spots through-out, mostly near the engravings. 124 pages including nine pages of notes. Engraving following page 52 is loose.

The pages have light foxing and a couple of old stains to the margins, but the binding is clean. Bound in the publisher's handsome brown morocco with raised bands, stamped in gilt and in blind on the upper cover and spine, and in blind on the rear cover.

Condition: Very Good. Hard back binding in publisher's original dark green cloth covers, gilt lettering to the upper panel, all page edges gilt, rounded corners, chocolate end papers. 16mo 5½'' x 4¼''. Charming and beautiful sepia illustrations to almost every page. Former message to the front end paper, small stain to the fore edge, minor soiling to the covers and in near Very Good condition. One of an edition limited to 150 numbered copies this being copy number '62'. Thomas Gray's poem, written in 1748, is set by hand in Weiss type with a little Klang on the title page. The paper is 200 gsm Velin Arches, and the binding is quarter green cloth with an original Edward Bawden patterned paper from Curwen Press. Bevelled boards, green endpapers and a printed paper label to the front board. Super Octavo, 11½" x 7½", pp. [12] with a linocut signed by the illustrator. A book in Fine condition.

The dust jacket shows the spine very lightly toned, some small nicks here and there, marginal loss of the bottommost of the back panel, otherwise remains bright, colorful, and distinct. As pictured.

This edition includes sixteen poems including "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard", eleven posthumous poems and fragments, and three extracts. The ornamental decorations are by W. Harry Rogers. A very attractive copy.
