Margery Greenleaf is the author of two historical novels for children - this one, a tale of Saxon brothers during the time of King Harold's skirmish with William the Conqueror, and 1971's "Dirk", set in Holland in the 1570s - and editor of a book of letters from a Civil War soldier. Illustrated with a few unusual double-page drawings, and seemingly an early example of the work of illustrator, Charles Mikolaycak. Slightly bumping of extremities, bookseller's label on front pastedown, but a very good copy indeed in a very good, price-clipped, rubbed, and edgeworn dust jacket.
