Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Boards (HB) in near fine condition with 1 rubbed corner and faint tan spots bottom of spine. The articles deal with the background and personalities of artists and movements. It is all readable and smartly presented and the color plates are superior to most art publications. The twenty contributions include comment by Michel Seuphor on the international aspects of Dada and a well deserved tribute to that progressive and militant museum the Stedelijk, which has built up a modern clientel in the midst of the riches of old masters in Amsterdam. The collections of two champions of modernism, Guillaume Apollinaire and André Breton, are discussed, respectively, by Georges Limbour and Alain Jouffroy and M. Limbour also traces the career of Georges Braque with biographical material and some analysis of his artistic development. 188 pages with list of the plates. As this volume is both over sized and heavy there will be an extra charge for priority mail or for posting it outside the country.
