Illustrated by Cicely Steed; Eileen Soper; (illustrator). 4to Hbk; no d/w; cream spine; illustrated board covers- 3 on swing reading whilst dog lies at their feet; prize plate inside dated for year 1938 - 1939; frontis entitled 'keeping cool'; quite a well worn but still intact copy; 6 colour plates by a variety of illustrators; 1, although not signed, looks very much like an Eileen Soper illustration; the text pages are worn and foxed, but the illustrations are in nice condition; ; Blackie's Books for Children; 4to 11" - 13" tall.

Illustrated by Mabel Lucie Attwell (illustrator). 4to hbk; a particularly nice copy of this Mabel Lucie Attwell illustrated book of stories, that has the title 'Telling a Tale' on the cover, but 'telling a Story' on the title page inside. It is undated, but we have seen a copy (not this one) with a gift inscription showing 1953 inside, so we guesstimate it was issued around this time. The is the tiniest bit of wear to spine ends, a hint of browning to fep, and slight evidence that the pencil name Carol has been rubbed out of the name box at some time; otherwise it is an almost immaculate copy; ; 4to 11" - 13" tall.

Light grey pictorial boards showing a boy and a girl peeping around from a door with elves and pixies to either side of picture. First story is "The Star That Fell At Christmas". Colour illustrations throughout. Front cover is a bit bowed. Small damp stain to top of spine. Inscription in ink top of title page and to front pastedown. Some grubby margin marks. Foxing in places. Packaged with care and promptly dispatched!
