Hardback. Condition: New. 1st ed. 2021. This book offers a radically different perspective on the topic of health inequity. Carey, Tai, and Griffiths use Perceptual Control Theory (PCT) to deconstruct current approaches to understanding, investigating, and addressing problems of health inequity. In the book, the authors propose that health inequity is not a problem per se. Disrupted control, they argue, is the problem that needs to be addressed. From this perspective, research, policy, and health practices directed at addressing health inequity in isolation will offer only partial solutions to the problems created by disrupted control. Addressing problems of disrupted control directly, however, has the potential to entirely resolve issues that are created by health inequity. The authors have extensive clinical and research experience in a wide range of contexts, including: cross-cultural settings; rural, remote, and underserved communities; community mental health settings; prisons; schools; and psychiatric wards. Drawing on these diverse experiences, the authors describe how adopting a Perceptual Control Theory perspective might offer promising new directions for researchers and practitioners who have an interest in addressing issues of inequity and social justice. With a Foreword written by Professor Neil Gilbert this book will provide fresh insights for academics, practitioners, and policymakers in the fields of public health, psychology, social policy, and healthcare.

Condition: New. Idioma/Language: Inglés. ?A Decade of excavations in Qubbet el-Hawa. ?A Decade of excavations in Qubbet el-Hawa. The results of the University of Jaén" Catalogue of the Exhibition Since 2008 the University of Jaén has been carrying out research work in the necropolis of Qubbet el-Hawa. To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the beginning of the work, a temporary exhibition was held at the Nubia Museum in Aswan, Egypt. One of the objectives was to show a multidisciplinary view of this work, as numerous researchers from different areas and scientific institutions are collaborating in this Jaén-based project. The exhibition aims to transmit a vision committed to historical and archaeological heritage, its promotion, protection and dissemination, not only internationally but also locally, making the people of Aswan aware of what is being done in their own city, making them participants in the progress of the University of Jaén's project. This has been achieved, to a large extent, by involving the inhabitants of the village of Gharb Aswan in the development of the work carried out each campaign. As an indispensable complement to any exhibition, this catalogue is published, which contains a selection of the pieces exhibited in the Nubia Museum. It is structured in a chronological manner, which allows us to see, in a way, an evolution throughout the history of funerary customs in Egypt during the Pharaonic period. The catalogue also includes an introductory section that helps to contextualise the pieces on display. The texts have been written by the collaborators of the Qubbet el-Hawa Project of the University of Jaén, all of them coming from different universities and research centres, both national and international.
