Grosheim war zwar nie in einer festen höfischen Anstellung, dafür erhielt er anlässlich des Geburtstags des Königs Jérôme den Auftrag, eine Oper zu komponieren (Les esclaves d'Alger), deren Uraufführung er wahrscheinlich selbst leitete, und wurde zum Klavierlehrer der Königin ernannt (MGG). Seinen Lebensunterhalt verdiente er sich vorwiegend als Privatlehrer.
