Rare book published for a major exhibition on midcentury Italian designer Gio Ponti. The larger volume, 13.75" by 10.25" and 176 pages, is a facsimile reprint of a rare and important 1954 Italian publication on Ponti, "Aria d'Italia: Espressione di Gio Ponti," illustrated with hundreds of drawings, sketches, ceramics, models, and furniture, all bearing witness to Ponti's incredible range. The second volume, "Espressioni di Gio Ponti," 13" by 9" and 116 pages, is edited by Italian art critic Germano Celant, and provides context - in bilingual English and Italian text - for Ponti's work, with numerous essays, reminiscences, and even some writings by Ponti itself, with numerous textual illustrations in color and an extensive chronology, biography, and bibliography.
