This book is a remarkable collection of poems and epigrams that provide a commentary on the political and social events of the revolutionary era. The author, a patriotic clergyman, uses his poetic voice to celebrate the ideals of freedom and independence, while also satirizing the hypocrisy and folly of those who opposed the American cause. The poems are filled with vivid imagery and biting wit, offering a unique glimpse into the minds and hearts of those who lived through this tumultuous period. From the triumphant victory at Yorktown to the challenges of forging a new nation, this book captures the essence of the American Revolution through the lens of one of its most passionate and articulate participants. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Vintage program for the 1978 National Lampoon music and comedy roadshow. Six page, gate fold program, with show credits on verso of first leaf and recto of second, recto and verso of third leaf is a two page add for their forthcoming film "Animal House" (the verso being a full-color photo of the "Animal House" cast), and on verso of program (verso of second leaf), two, two-color ads, top for the 1977 National Lampoon comedy album "That's Not Funny, That's Sick," and bottom, a subscription coupon for the magazine. In 1977 National Lampoon magazine released their sketch comedy album "That's Not Funny, That's Sick," developed largely from sketches from the 1973-1974 "National Lampoon's Radio Hour," and began production on, what would be, their phenomenally successful, 1978 film, "National Lampoon's Animal House." In 1978 National Lampoon began touring their second music and comedy theatrical production (their first being the widely acclaimed "Lemmings" from 1973). Named after, and featuring some of the sketches from their 1977 comedy album, the "That's Not Funny, That's Sick!" music and comedy roadshow toured college campuses throughout the US in the spring of 1978, in anticipation of and to promote the summer release of "Animal House." Featuring Rodger Bumpass, Sarah Durkee, Lorraine Lazarus, and Andrew Moses as The National Lampoon Players, with skits, songs, and music from Christopher Guest, Tony Hendra, Doug Kenney, Paul Shaffer, Brian Doyle-Murray, Gilda Rader, John Belushi, and many, many other National Lampoon alumni. 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Gate fold program, with two folds. Near Fine.

Second edition, after the first of the previous year. "Guest, a revolutionary soldier, came to Cincinnati in 1817 and gives some account of his residence there. His voyages were to the Georgia and the Carolina coasts" - Howes. During the Revolution Guest had served in the militia unit which captured the noted partisan, Colonel Lincoln, as well as John Graves Simcoe, in New Jersey in October 1779. Many of the poems relate to the Revolution, e.g. Gen. Washington, Col. Simcoe's expedition, etc. The journal, which records three distinct travels, begins on page eighty-three, and describes trips to Cuba and the Bahamas in the 1780s, a trek from New Brunswick to Canada in 1796, and a trip from New Brunswick to Cincinnati in 1817. Felcone states that only some copies of the second edition include a plate. The copy at hand does not have such a plate, and there is no evidence that one has been removed. HOWES G456. THOMSON 471. SABIN 29139. AMERICAN IMPRINTS 16357. FELCONE COLLECTION 744. Contemporary calf, red leather label (chipped). Some minor scuffing to extremities. Foxed. A good copy.
