Petits manques au bas du dos et sur la coupe inférieure du plat supérieur, charnières et coins un peu frottés, page de titre et coins supérieurs des pages 301ss salis, angle inférieur des pages 305/306 manquant, sans lacune de texte; bel exemplaire malgré ses défauts. Ex-libris manuscrit ancien sur la page de titre: «Michaëlis Morenui» (?). L'édition originale de cette première biographie de George Monk (1608-1670) parut à Londres en 1671, intitulée: «The life of General Monck, Duke of Albermarle, with remarks upon his action», traduite en français par Guy Miège (1644-1718) dès l'année suivante et imprimée à Londres chez Robert Scot, un volume in-12° de [12]+406 pages. Notre édition existe également avec une page de titre au nom de Jean Berthelin, rue aux Juifs à Rouen. George Monk fut l'un des principaux personnages d'Angleterre sous la dictature d'Olivier Cromwell, pour qui il mena la répression en Ecosse, avant de changer brutalement de camp et de contribuer à la restauration de Charles II Stuart.
