This is a narrative of a voyage to South Africa, India and China. The author was a Swedish medical doctor and professor in anatomy and physiology. He was particulary interested in the natural history of the places he visited. The voyage went to the Cape and from there continued to Mocambique, Zanzibar, Aden (Yemen), Muskat, Bombay, Singapore before reaching Macao and (Whampoa) Canton. His interesting description of Canton contains information about crops and vegetation, opium smoking and its trade, foot binding, tea and bamboo, medical practices, pirates, etc. Cordier BS 2505.
